CAFRE together with industry partners, Ulster Farmers’ Union and Dairy Council Northern Ireland bring a series of webinars throughout November addressing the theme of Future Proofing your Dairy Business.

You are invited to the second in the series on Tuesday 9th November at 8.00pm – 9.00pm. This event will focus on how you can manage and feed your herd to improve sustainability.

Don Morrow, CAFRE Head of Dairy, Pigs and Poultry Branch, will introduce the webinar and discuss the background of the challenge that the dairy sector faces in terms of sustainability.

The speakers at this online event include:

Neil Dyson, Arla Innovation Dairy Farmer from Bledlow, Buckinghamshire

Neil Dyson BSc (Hons), PGCE, ARAgS, who farms with his wife Jane, at Holly Green Farm in Buckinghamshire. They manage 450 Holstein Friesian cows, milked three times a day. The farm extends 300ha, which includes 100ha maize on mainly light Chiltern chalk and heavy clay. Holly Green Farm is an Arla UK Innovation Farm demonstrating the latest on farm research to farmers, customers and non-government organisations. Neil is also president of European Dairy Farmers, an international benchmarking organisation, as well as teaching science part time in a local primary school and developing a farm schools link.

Dr Mark Little, Nutritionist and Veterinary Adviser

Mark Little MVB, MRCVS, PhD is a veterinary surgeon with Fane Valley Co-op, where he is responsible for the development and management of the veterinary services division, helping farmers with best practice for animal health and sustainability. Marks work focus is helping farmers with practical solutions to keep animals healthy so they don’t have to use antibiotics. As well as becoming a 2019 scholar with the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust, Mark has completed a PhD researching the nutritional influences on immunity in the transition dairy cow, with studies conducted at Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, Hillsborough and Queen’s University Belfast.
